Macomb-Robert L. Rittenhouse, 86, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away at 12:10 AM Friday June 22, 2012 at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, Illinois. He was born August 26, 1925 in Rutland, Illinois to William Elmer and Halcyon Logan Rittenhouse; he married Marguerite Sell on April 3, 1948. She survives. Also surviving are 3 sons; Larry (Cecilia) Rittenhouse of Cameron, Missouri, Rodney (Pam) Rittenhouse of Industry, Illinois, Carl (Marlise) Rittenhouse of Macomb, Illinois, 1 daughter; Sandy Elliot of Kansas City, Missouri, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Gene Rittenhouse of Tennessee, Illinois, Jack Rittenhouse of Macomb, Illinois and 1 sister; Virginia Rittenhouse of Macomb, Illinois. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Cecil, Herschel, Hiram, and Richard Rittenhouse, 2 sisters; Opal Spires and Irene Miller. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked for Haeger Pottery and King Seeley Thermos for several years. Services will be at 10:30 AM Monday June 25, 2012 at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, where visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM. Rev. Dr. Howard White will officiate. Cremation will be accorded after the service. Burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Great River Honor Flight.
